WA OWNER-BUILDER COURSE
Does this course meet the WA Building Commission requirements?
Yes it does. We have been delivering online training for WA owner-builders since 2012.
If the value of work (labour and materials, inc. GST) exceeds
$20,000, you MUST provide evidence (OUR Certificate) and a copy of your white-card to the WA Building Commision if you wish to apply for your owner-builder permit.
You will need to hold a current General Induction Card (white-card). You can complete this online with ABSOLUTE Education as well.
Upon satisfactory completion of this course, students will receive a "Certificate" and will be able to apply to the WA Building Commission for their owner-builder permit.
Course Content
Our owner-builder course will not teach you how to swing a hammer or tell you the standard regulation distance between joists. We will teach you how to manage your project and make you aware of your legal responsibilities, obligations and rights. At the end of the day, 90% of owner-builders will
act as project-managers and oversee the progress of their project. Some of the topics covered (to name only a few) include:
- Preparing to be an Owner-Builder;
- Legislation surrounding Owner-Building;
- Cotracts, quotes and progress payments;
- Dispute handling, resolution and helpful tips;
